 LIHEAP now taking applications! (LIHEAP = Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) It is Pennsylvania's program to help low-income families pay their heating costs during the winter through energy assistance grants. No liens are placed against the person's property when they apply for LIHEAP. Payments are sent directly to the fuel vendor, who will credit the payment to your heating bill. Crisis grants are also available to people in emergency situations, which include: broken heating equipment of leaking fuel lines, lack of fuel or imminent danger of running out of fuel, and/or termination of utility service or imminent danger of termination. Call your local County Assistance Office at 724-832-5200 or the toll-free LIHEAP Hotline at 1-866-857-7095. You may also call the Parish Office at 724-423-4431 to have Jan Hlavsa return your call to explain LIHEAP and eligibility requirements. Stay warm!
